Flip Diaper Review

Recently, I had the opportunity to test-drive the new FLIP hybrid diaper. Being a newbie to the cloth diapering world, I didn't quite understand the big fuss. After trying Econobum (another product of Bum Genius, see our previous review!) wow! What a huge difference!



The first thing that I love is that the FLIP hybrid system is also compatible with other Bum Genius products. You can use prefolds from the Econobum line, or the FLIP inserts. They also make an organic insert, and even disposable liners! Talk about versatility! (A package of 18 disposable inserts goes for $5)



So how do you use the FLIP diaper? Take a FLIP insert (also called a stay-dry insert) and place it into the cover. There are 2 small folds that hold the insert in place. Then, place on baby just like a regular diaper! I found that pre-inserting inserts in the cover made diaper changes easiest.



The other thing I LOVE about flips is how economical and trim they are! Other cloth diapers (including Econobum) can be bulky, causing you to need to "size-up" in clothing to get the diapers to fit. But with FLIP, it hardly is larger than a disposable. Also, because the inserts come separately from the cover, you simply wipe down the cover, use a new insert, and use the system again. (Meaning you can re-use the covers again and again, unless you get poo on the cover).



FLIP covers retail for $13.95, and Stay Dry insert vary from $3.95-$4.95 depending on the quantity in which you purchase them. You can also purchase a FLIP cover + 1 Stay Dry Insert for $17.95. When you buy a pre-packaged set (2 covers + 6 inserts, you pay $49.95. MUCH cheaper than paying $17.95-$24.95 per DIAPER like the others in the Bum Genius Line! Because you can reuse the cover again and again, you only need to buy additional inserts.

Overall, I LOVE these diapers! We went out and bought a few more, so now we are at 3 covers & 16 inserts. Can't wait to get more!!
